My last weeks in the United States

My last weeks in the United States were pretty eventful, what made them pass by really fast. I went to California with a bunch of other exchange students from all over the world, I got my last grades in my classes, I went to Prom, to Kings Island, and I started great into my summer with nice weather to lay out at the Pool/Lake every day.

Going on the California Adventure Trip of Belo USA Travel was one of my best decisions I made this year, I had a fantastic time with students from 15 different countries, that are all spending their school year in the United States. It was great to exchange experiences, and we had a lot of fun together to discover different sides of Los Angeles, and San Francisco. We went to Disneyland, the Universal Studios, Hollywood,  Madame Tussauds, the Golden Gate, Chinatown, the Alcatraz Island, did Sightseeing, and were riding on the world famoues Cable Car, and over all we were staying in two amazing hotels, and had the chance to swim in the pool or relax in the hot tub after a busy day. It was awesome how many things we got to see in such a short amount of time (:

Only one week later after I got back from my trip it was time for Prom. Prom is a fun dancing event, for all Juniors, and Seniors, and their dates from our school to have a nice time. Everyone got dressed up, pictures were taken, and we went out to eat. We had a very good time, although I've to say the time was not quite eough. Our Prom with the theme 'A night in Paris' was a whole too fast over.

We went to Kings Island the day after Prom, and it was awesome. I just love rollercoasters, it so much fun! We spent our whole day in the amusement park, and got to ride almost all of the great rollercoasters, I never went before in a park with such a great variety of rides. And I got really lucky, because I had the chance to go again in the end of the week with my physics class, and it was as nice as it was the first time I went there.

And only a little bit later school was finally over, and we're on summer break now. That means we can go to the pool or lake every single day, and we can lay out in the sun to get a tan. We can have late summer nigths at the bonfire, or long movie nights until the next morning. Summer is the best time of the year, and we finally arrived, and we can enjoy it. I have to take my driving test in two test to finally get my liscence, I have to start packing, and I will be home in less than one week. I can't believe that my year as an exchange student went by that fast, it is crazy! How is it possible to pack one room, one year, one life, in one bag? It will be hard, but I'm sure that I will find a way, because a goodbye on side of the world is always connected with a hello on the other side. I'm sad to leave, but I'm excited to arrive too. But all in all I'm thankful for everything that I experienced here, and for everyone who helped me to deal with it. I had an awsome time.

Goodbye America
Hallo Deutschland

Time flies

It is already April, and that means there will be only two more months until I have to leave. On the one hand I'm really excited about the time I have left, there are some pretty cool things that are coming up, such as my trip to California next week, my Prom Dance on 5th May for that I just found an awsome dress and adorable shoes, the Kings Island trip (a park full of rollercoasters) with my physics class, and summer break begins at he end of May. I'm sure there is a lot of fun waiting for me in the next weeks. On the other hand I'm also sad, because all this means time will run by really fast, and than it is time to say goodbye to the greatest host family I could have ever imagine. I don't want to think about that yet, but saying goodbye on the one side of the world brings always hellos on the other side of the world along. I'm really excited for these hellos, and to finally hug my family and friends again, that I didn't see in a while.

But for now I'm just living american life, and I want to tell you how my last few months went.
Cheerleading season is over now, I cheerleaded for Football and Basketball, and I really liked it, but now the third Season is Baseball and it is not very typical to have Cheerleader there. That means I will start running now, because I don't like it to sit just around and do nothing.

After I got my Drivers Permit already last fall, I took driving classes online, and finally passed my written test with 96 %, I have to say it was pretty easy tho. Now I have to drive a few more times with my host parents and I have to take about six driving hours with an instructor, and than I can take the final driving test on the road to get my liscense. It would be pretty awesome, when I come back to Germany and can already drive, only on an automatic car tho, but I'm sure I will learn it on stick shift fast too.

Last week my parents came to visit me and my host family over Easter, and we all had a really good time together. We went to Chicago and stayed at the my host mom sister's house. We went Prom dress shopping, and after the third Prom dress store, I finally found what I wanted, and it was one of the cheaper ones too. (:

We went downton taking the train, went up on the 103 floor og the Willis Tower, ate best pizza in Chicago (stuffed with cheese is extremely delicious), went to the Bean build out of a big mirror, an saw a lot of skycrapers.

Last week we went to all of my favorite restaurant I have here, it was amazing! BDubs (Buffalo Wild Wings). IHop (International House of Pancakes). Bob Evans. Texas Roadhouse. Subway. Gior Lanor's Stuffed Pizza. We went to the world famous Speedway Racetrack downtown in Indianapolis, the capital of the state where I live right now, we went to the Children's Museum, to Cirlce Center - the big shopping mall downtown, and we went to visit the Amish to see how they live. All in all it was an really interessting week, and on saturday it was time to say goodbye to my parents, but well I will see them in only two months again, and until that moment time will fly by a way to fast, and I try to keep you up to the more frequently than I did over the last few months (;

Christmas Break !

After three stressful last days of the first semester full with final exams in every single class we had our first day of vacation on Thursday, December 22nd. Finally we had time to sleep in, go together to my favorite american restaurant BDubs, go Bowling, watch movies, and many more.

On December 24th the parents of my host mom, and also her sister with her husband, who lives in Chicago, came over and we all had a very delicious breakfast. We skyped all together my whole family in Germany and saw Santa Clause coming to their house. It was a amicable meeting for all of us and had a really nice time together with both of my families. I went with my host sister to another family lunch and later with my whole host family to a family reunion of their great grandma to get more good food and more nice present. Finally we went home and me and my host sisters got all one single present to open from our parents on Christmas Eve - a Pyjama for having a goodnight until we are allowed to open the rest of our presents in the next morning.

December 25th, it is Christmas in America - the day we have waited so long for. We all were very excited, and that's why stood up early in the morning. First it was the turn of my little, 5 year old, host sister and she was very happy to get all her new baby stuff (new babies, baby car sits, baby bottles, diaper, changing table - just everything she wanted), she also got her favorite candy, games, a McDonalds Drive Threw, and many more things. And now it was our turn, from me and my 15 years old host sister. We got also our favortie candies, gift cards for our favorite stores, finger nail stuff, make up, games, socks, underwear, scarves and she her new laptop and me my new white IPhone4 - it was awesome!
On the next day we went to a family brunch from the side of my host dad and we got presents again. And the same as it was on the day before we could open first our present, that were lying under the tree and finally our stockings. Everyone has his own stocking with his own name on it filled with the things they like the most. I'm so thankful for havin such a nice family, that treat me like their own child (: The picture shows the beautiful tree standing in the living room of my host parents.
Christma was now almost other, but luckily still a week of the break left. I went shopping with my host sister and mom and bought a lot of really nice new clothes. I went to a Birthday Surprise Party with dancing and food, again to my favorite restaurant BDubs, I had a game to cheer for, celebrated New Years Eve with only a few friends, but lots of fun, went ice scating, watched movies, and just enjoyed the the feeling without any stress in school. All in all I had a really good break and it is kinda sad, that I have to say it is over now and I have to go back to school tomorrow.

Christmas is coming

Since December 1st I'm counting the days until Christmas will be finally here and I'm glad to have my german Advent Calender, that supports me. Every door means one day less until Christmas (: ; but also one day less without german chocolate/:

It was the first time for my host family, that St. Nikolas came to their house and put candy in their shoes, and I'm sure it will not be the last time, because my little host sisters loved it.

More and more people put lights at their houses and it is just beautiful to drive during the night through our neighborhood. And a very special place is the Winter Wonderland with still more ligths. Welcome in the country of beautiful energy wasting ((:

Finally I can say I can't wait until our Stockies get finally filled in the night of the 24th to the 25th - I am soo excited! More pictures defintely will follow.

Driving Permit!

I just got my driving permit. We signed me up, went to the Office and after all the paperwork we've done I'm allowed do drive now (:

First I need a lot of practice with my host parents next to me in the car, afterwards also some practice with an instructor next to me and than the driving test will come faster than it seems now. I'm going to take some classes in the internet and in only six months I am going to drive by myself!

Thanksgiving Break

After a Pyjama Party with the Cheerleaders on Saturday night last weekend I had my first Thanksgiving meal on the following sunday with the family of my host dad. And I have to say it was really really good and a nice variety from all fastfood that we had the evenings before. Family came together, talked, played games and above all remembered all the things they were thankful for.

After a short three day week I was very thankful, that the weekend was already there and on this thursday we celebrated our second Thanksgiving with the family side if my host mom. We had again lots of very good food; turkey, match potatoes, noodles, oven fresh bread, corn, beans, salad are just a few examples and on the picture you can only see the first plate I had on this day.

The day after Thanksgiving known as Black Friday was the start of Christmas time here. Everyone run into the shops in the middle of the night to get the best deals they can find. Standing up 3 am for some shoes or the christmas present for the little girl? -it is ridiculous!
Buying the Christmas Tree in the next morning, that means go on the tree farm and find the one that fit best into your house and cut it down by yourself; going to Walmart to buy plenty of christmas lights for in and out of the house; and going downtown to see the lighting of the big tree at the monument is all part of the experience. After saying Santa Claus hello we left to finish this succesful day with dinner at BDubs - the place with the best chicken wings and sauces I've ever eaten in my life. Not forgetting the Huckleberry Limonade - it is soo good and I definitely don't no what I'm supposed to do without this place!

I already felt like sunday and the end of the weekend, but I'm glad that it was only friday night and the weekend was just about to start. I will see what else is waiting for me until I have to go back to school on monday. But one thing I know already for sure - I love Thanksgiving (:

Happy Family

Finally Friday

Friday, 11-11-11

Today is Veterans Day, but besides a boring 40 minutes memorial in the school gym is it a complete normal day. And it is friday, that means it is finally weekend and we have two days school off ((:
It is also the first friday night since ever on that we are not know what we can do... football is over and basketball has not started yet. But I'm sure we will find something until it is getting dark and my first self made american pizza will be a good start. But for now we are sitting in the living room and my little germany fan is eating one of her popstickels with Bella next to her.
