Christmas is coming

Since December 1st I'm counting the days until Christmas will be finally here and I'm glad to have my german Advent Calender, that supports me. Every door means one day less until Christmas (: ; but also one day less without german chocolate/:

It was the first time for my host family, that St. Nikolas came to their house and put candy in their shoes, and I'm sure it will not be the last time, because my little host sisters loved it.

More and more people put lights at their houses and it is just beautiful to drive during the night through our neighborhood. And a very special place is the Winter Wonderland with still more ligths. Welcome in the country of beautiful energy wasting ((:

Finally I can say I can't wait until our Stockies get finally filled in the night of the 24th to the 25th - I am soo excited! More pictures defintely will follow.

Driving Permit!

I just got my driving permit. We signed me up, went to the Office and after all the paperwork we've done I'm allowed do drive now (:

First I need a lot of practice with my host parents next to me in the car, afterwards also some practice with an instructor next to me and than the driving test will come faster than it seems now. I'm going to take some classes in the internet and in only six months I am going to drive by myself!

Thanksgiving Break

After a Pyjama Party with the Cheerleaders on Saturday night last weekend I had my first Thanksgiving meal on the following sunday with the family of my host dad. And I have to say it was really really good and a nice variety from all fastfood that we had the evenings before. Family came together, talked, played games and above all remembered all the things they were thankful for.

After a short three day week I was very thankful, that the weekend was already there and on this thursday we celebrated our second Thanksgiving with the family side if my host mom. We had again lots of very good food; turkey, match potatoes, noodles, oven fresh bread, corn, beans, salad are just a few examples and on the picture you can only see the first plate I had on this day.

The day after Thanksgiving known as Black Friday was the start of Christmas time here. Everyone run into the shops in the middle of the night to get the best deals they can find. Standing up 3 am for some shoes or the christmas present for the little girl? -it is ridiculous!
Buying the Christmas Tree in the next morning, that means go on the tree farm and find the one that fit best into your house and cut it down by yourself; going to Walmart to buy plenty of christmas lights for in and out of the house; and going downtown to see the lighting of the big tree at the monument is all part of the experience. After saying Santa Claus hello we left to finish this succesful day with dinner at BDubs - the place with the best chicken wings and sauces I've ever eaten in my life. Not forgetting the Huckleberry Limonade - it is soo good and I definitely don't no what I'm supposed to do without this place!

I already felt like sunday and the end of the weekend, but I'm glad that it was only friday night and the weekend was just about to start. I will see what else is waiting for me until I have to go back to school on monday. But one thing I know already for sure - I love Thanksgiving (:

Happy Family

Finally Friday

Friday, 11-11-11

Today is Veterans Day, but besides a boring 40 minutes memorial in the school gym is it a complete normal day. And it is friday, that means it is finally weekend and we have two days school off ((:
It is also the first friday night since ever on that we are not know what we can do... football is over and basketball has not started yet. But I'm sure we will find something until it is getting dark and my first self made american pizza will be a good start. But for now we are sitting in the living room and my little germany fan is eating one of her popstickels with Bella next to her.

Football is over /:

Football is over now. I have never seen so many boys in tears. We had friday our Final Sectional Game and we lost. It was an unexpected loss and nobody have thought about getting out. Until this day everyone hoped that we will make it to States. I know we have a really good football team and I really don't know what happend on this day. After 14 -0 the 14-1 and not the 15-0 everybody was hoping for. But I'm still proud to be a Cougar and we all know who are the winners of the hearts. Guys you had a really good season and all of you did a really good job and I'm luckily that I was there and had the chance to see you playing. This was probably a 'one-time-in-life-thing' and I will never forget it... And now chin up, it is time for the basketball season to start!

Halloween !

Well, Halloween is already one week ago, but last week I had no time to tell about it, and so I'm going to tell you now how american Halloween look like. First of all Halloween is not celebrated on only one day; houses and frontyards are decorated weeks before and take the fall days into a nice atmosphere. Also Haunted Houses are opened only in this few weeks and almost every teenager likes to visit them.

But now about my last weekend. On saturday we went to a bonfire and cooked hotdogs and after we were all sated the bigger kids and the dads went into the barn to get ready for the hayride. We put our masks on and were taken into the forest to scarry the little kids, who were coming soon after us. My part was to switch the light of a car on, that is hidden behind some pushes and to toot if they pass us, but this was nothing, if you saw the dummy flying shortly before over the heads of the children and the boys jumping out of their bushes.
We were glad when the hayride was over and somebody took us back to the bonfire, because it became already really cold. And after warming up ourselfs we began playing basketball in the middle of the night until we got tired and just wanted to fall in our beds for sleeping in!

On sunday we went to a family lunch and cooked again hotdogs over the fire and if you want to believe or not, but I can say this were enough hotdogs for the next few months! And finally on this day I got all my pictures back on my laptop ((:
After eating togehter, sitting, and talking we went back home and carved pumkins. It was the first time ever for me to do something like this and I have to say at the end they looked really good. We put candles inside and took the pumpkins outside, so that everyone could see our nice results. And if you think the day is comming to an ene if it gets dark outside, than you are defenitly wrong on halloween. It was sunday night and the last day, that haunted houses are open. So we took our last chance to go there. First we went on a hayride through the forest and this one was a lot scarrier than the one we made for the little kids. Things seemed to fall on you, monster made scarry noises and danced, and lots of more happened. But against all the things that were waiting in the Barn of us you can describe the hayride as a fun trip. The Barn was one of the most scarried things happend in years for me. And on the top my host sister and host mom sent me first trough all the rooms. People sreamed, people came centimeter near to you, and starred weird in your face. People were hidden in walls, in tons, behind corners. Little kids were in your ways and monsters showed you the way where you have to go. One of the rooms were completely dark and full of smoke and during trying to find the door hands grabed your legs. Things moved on places were you never thought they would. Yeah it was very scarry, but I liked to be scarried, then it was Halloween! Finally we went home and fall directly in sleep, to bad that on the next day was school /:

Certainly Trick or Treat is also a part of the American Halloween and I have still lots of candy in my room. And faster than anyone thought, Halloween was over, and I hope next year back in Germany it will be as good as it was here, although there are probably a lot of differences.

Tons of Fun

Hey guys! After some troubles with my computer I am back now. I didn't do anything, but it couldn't start anymore. So I went to a computer store to let check it and they noticed a hardware problem and said to me it just happened sometimes to computers. The good thing, we sent it to California and they could fixed it very fast and for free; the bad thing, all things on my computer were gone, when I got it back yesterday. I had to download skype, icq and all these things again and luckily we saved my pictures before we sent it away! (:

Okay now is all right again and I have a few things to tell about the last two weeks.
Last weekend was the big birthday party for my little host sister Sofia. It was a party with lots of people, lots of food and tons of fun. We celebrated with the theme of Princess, that means all was in pink. It was gorgeous. And the best thing? - The big jumping house in the backyard. It was definitely a succesful party and Sofia got lots of present.

And in the evening I went my first time to an american movie theatre and watched Abduction after eating Mexican with my favorite mexican girl Mariana and the other girls. yeah it was a good day.

After sleeping in on the next day I enjoyed a typical american sunday. I only watched TV all day long; but on this day I watched Desperate Housewives instead of football with my host sister Kelsey. And soon another good day was over.

The next week passed fast and after just four days the next weekend was there. The Friday of Octobre 21 was called fall break. One day is not a lot, but I have to say it's better than nothing. I started into the long weekend with a sleepover with the cheer girls. It was lots if fun; we put make up on each other blind folded, popped ballons, danced, ate a lot and watched very scary movies.

After a very short night my host mom was taking me home and we had a very good shopping day with all girls of my host family. I love them.. and I love my new boots ! I didn't found a good winter coat, but hopefully there will be further shopping trips until it gets very bad cold.

Back home we put the warmest clothes we found on to get ready for the first sectional game. It was the first game, where a chance for our boys were to loose - so all of us were very excited. But all in all we had no problems to win another game after the first fourteen wins. yeah I have to say I'm very proud of my school to play so well. And I hope so bad that they will make it into the end game of the sectionals!

We are thininking about going to the Bridge Festival and than the long weekend is almost over. And on monday my first thought will be; skip the week and let it be the next weekend! The tons of fun have to continue!

Homecoming

Last week was a special week, one of the very amazing weeks - it was the week of homecoming. It was a week of school spirit and fun. We had every day a theme for dressing up and the Nerd Day picture is just one example of all the cool days. We had also 80's Day, Cowboy Day, Camo Day and Spirit Day (Orange and Blue - our school colors).

We had also boys volleyball games, freshmen against sophomores, juniors against seniors, and it was lots of fun because the senior boys dressed up in gay shorts, pink shirts with capes and sunglasses :'D And as was expected the seniors won.

And we had a girls football game, called powderpuff, freshmen against sophomors, and juniors against seniors.

After collecting all the week points for the grade you are in ( I collected certainly for the Juniors) they were totaled on friday. We had friday shortened classes and all in all half an hour earlier school finish for getting ready in the gym for the homecoming game. In this pep saison the seniors boys played volleyball against the teachers, the band played great music and a lots of times the school song and the cheerleaders made happy atmosphere. All in all was it a great a event for special school spirit and the student got excited for the homecoming game in the evening.

Homecoming means that lots of people, that are already out of school coming back for watching football and enjoying the school spirit again.

After getting ready at home for the game I went back at 6pm in my cheering outfit. It was my first time to cheer for a game in front of lots of people and I was very very nervous. I cheered only for the third and fourth quarter and had lots of fun, although I messed up at some parts. And it was very cold and and it seemed to be rain soon. I wore two sweatshirt and pants over my cheer outfit, but no cloves like most of the other cheergirls. I didn't know, that it would be this cold. I defently have to buy more warm clothes soon, and this are just the temperatures of fall, not winter !

All in all I had a very nice week, a very nice time with the cheer girls and other students and watched the seven win of seven games. I watched the crowning of Homecoming Princesses and Queen and went eating one of the best pizzas after the game.

And finally now is weekend and I just want to skip the next weekdays until it is weekend again.

Further First Times

I went to my first Baby Shower in my whole life. It was a Shower for my cheerleading coach Ashley, who will get her baby in a few weeks. It was an event with most of the cheer girls and we had a lot of fun eating lunch, giving baby presents and popping balloons (:

I went the first time up in a cheerleading build after practicing many hours the dance cheers on the ground and I had a lot of fun by flying back into the girls arms, although I didn't exactly know, what I was supposed to do.

And my little host sister Sofia had her first soccer game.

Caaat !

And I also want to inroduce you to our new family member: Additionaly to our two dogs we have now also a little (very cute!) cat.

Sweet Home

Now I am already over one month in Indiana und I have definitely the feeling of a nice home where it is never boring (: You can see our kitchen, living room, and my own room, but this is just a little view into my new lovely home.

Another week is over

Another week is other and I have reached the best part of the whole week - weekend! And its not just a normal weekend - it is a long weekend - today is Laborday. I don't have to go to school, I can sleep in and I just can do nothing - it is great ! Yesterday we had a barbecue (the best of sundays is everytime the good food for lunch and that you can sleep in before) and we had also the chance to swim in the swimmingpool of our friends and watch TV inside of their big house.

It was a very good day after a demanding week with lots of homework and cheer practice. I got my first A in art and did my first tests an quizes in other classes. It was not to hard and I liked the multiple choice questions - so you can guess what the answer is although you have no idea of the answer (:

And to note at the end of this entry I become a greater football fan day by day and I am very excited what will happining in the near future.
